MAKE IT SPARKLE

You can ‘make headlights last forever’ with 10p spray – it takes seconds & is only needed ‘two or three times a year’

Doing the simple DIY job early could save you hundreds in the long run

A MECHANIC has shared how you can "make your headlights last forever" using a 10p spray a couple of times a year.

The wonder product can stop the lights from sustaining damage - but you have to use it fast.

Scotty Kilmer, a car technician of over 50 years, shared the hack on his YouTube channel.

He urged drivers to pick up a cheap bottle of high-grade plastic cleaner to brighten up their headlamps.

Scotty said: "My lights are faded because the ultra-violet rays of the Sun faded the plastic.

"You can polish them but it's already been damaged.

"You'll just keep polishing and polishing - or you can buy new ones."

However, if your headlights aren't already in poor condition, you can save them from damage using plastic cleaner.

All you have to do is spray down each of your headlights thoroughly and wipe them clean with a dry cloth.

Doing this a few times a year will give them a protective sheen and prevent sun damage.

Unfortunately, the brand Scotty used is temporarily unavailable for sale, but plenty of equivalent products exist.

A 300ml bottle of headlight cleaner and sealant can be picked up from Halfords for as little as £5.61.

'What the hell,' cry drivers over hidden 'anti-dazzle' feature controlled by tiny button - many have no idea it's there

Given that it only takes a quick burst on each headlamp, that only works out to about 10p per use.

And since headlight restorations can cost up to £150 each, you could make huge savings by taking preventive action early.
