A LUXURIOUS SUV from a highly-desired car brand is hugely practical with plenty of room inside - but it can also match the speed of a BMW M3.

Better yet, it can be picked up at a pinch from second-hand dealerships - with some now available for less than £5,000.

The Porsche Cayenne has become one of the brand's most popular motors over the last 20 years - loved for its Porsche name, sports car power and SUV practicality.

The Cayenne, which was first released in 2002, is officially described as a 'luxury crossover SUV' and is noted for its excellent performance and good handling.

To petrolheads, it's famous for being the German marque's first production motor with four doors and, other than the tractors that they built in the 1950s, their first off-roader.

Since its debut, the Cayenne has existed over three generations, with the latest model available to buy from new from £76,000, while the top-of-the-range GT E-Hybrid iteration costing over £164k.

However, the first-gen models can be found for incredibly low prices.

Indeed, we found a 2007 model with 136,000 miles on the clock on the website for just £4,999.

Its features include air conditioning with extra vents at the back, full black leather heated seats and the original SatNav.

It also comes with its two original keys, service stamps and original manuals, and it’s even ULEZ compliant.

The listing added: “It's a joy to drive on the fast lane at speeds you cannot imagine with other cars.”

With its 4.8-litre V8 engine, it boasts 385 bhp - enough to hit 60mph in 6.8 seconds.

Its top speed comes to 155 mph, which is the same as the mythical BMW M3.

In a used car guide published in 2023, spoke to a long-term Cayenne owner named Andrew Doyle, who dubbed it "a terrific family car" that he'd done "over 130,000 miles in".

He added: "It is great to drive and has that all-important Porsche feel to the interior. I’m not sure if I’ll ever replace it."

Sun Motors recently road tested the new Cayenne E-Hybrid, which our man Rob Gill described as "not far off from being a perfect family wagon."

For fans of retro Porsches, a much-loved model from the 1980s is set to be reimagined as a special tribute.
