I live off-grid in my campervan with air con and instant hot water… my clever hack means I never lose mobile signal

A WOMAN has revealed how she lives off-grid in her campervan while enjoying air con, instant hot water and constant phone signal.

Sarah Yak estimates that she'll be able to live completely isolated from the outside world for up to a month thanks to the ingenious tech.

Sarah is renovating the large Mercedes Sprinter van into a sustainable camper to allow her to roam free away from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

Documenting the process on her YouTube channel she explained that she was planning to use a DIY power bank to source a renewable energy supply for her travels.

She did this by building her own wooden shelving unit to bolt onto the panels inside the van and house a number of large batteries.

These partnered with solar panels on the roof to allow her to generate her own electricity.

There's also a DC outlet that lets her charge them off the van's battery running on diesel power.

This should be enough to power everything from an air fryer to the air con unit and even a water heater attached to an indoor shower.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect, though, is that it will also provide the power for a clever gadget that guarantees Sarah constant mobile signal even when she's out in the sticks.

She receives the coverage through Starlink, a product made by Elon Musk's SpaceX company.

The device makes use of SpaceX's network of more than 6,000 satellites to beam high-quality internet signal across 102 countries.

With a roaming package designed for "RVs, nomads and campers" starting at just £85 per month, it can reach areas that most traditional providers can't.

No router is needed either, with Sarah able to attache a receiver array to the top of her van for a few hundred quid.

She said: "I can heat air with electricity or diesel, I can fill up my water with a gravity fill or pressure fill and I can charge my batteries through solar or my car batteries.

"I went years without a water heater or A/C unit...the most important thing is having a space that feels like home.

"This system, along with 70 gallons of fresh water, a toilet, an indoor shower and a big fridge should be enough to allow me to stay off grid for over a month."

It comes after locals of three seaside hotspots pushed back against a "war on caravans" as motorhomes were banned by the council.
