The automotive giant announced it will invest "more than £1million" to help cops crackdown on vehicle thefts across the country.

This will help the police force gain additional resources to tackle and respond to high-profile car thefts across the UK.

It will also allow authorities to investigate theft cases more deeply.

The monetary support will come on top of the car insurance offered by the brand which aims to reduce driver's insurance costs as the increase in motor thefts has forced companies to raise premiums.

JLR previously said it would offer to pay £150 per month as part of insurance contributions to its divers for up to three years.

Patrick McGillycuddy, managing director at JLR, said: "We are constantly developing our systems and security features and through our close collaboration with police, we stay ahead of any emerging methods and quickly deploy anti-theft measures.

";This additional investment, coupled with our other ongoing and proactive action, shows our commitment to supporting the authorities in having a tangible impact on combating this issue in the UK."

JLR has also trained some 650 officers so far to help investigate recovered stolen cars, News reports.

Range Rovers were among the most stolen cars in the UK in the past years - with a staggering rate of 924 thefts per 100,000 in 2022-23.

So-called keyless thefts are on the rise, with thugs using modified devices similar to old-fashioned GameBoys to commit the crimes in seconds.

Terrifying moment homeowner is run over in his own driveway after confronting brazen car thieves

One shocking video from earlier this year showed a gang using a "master device" to unlock a luxury Bentley, before ramming it through a gated driveway and making their escape.

Although the popular vehicles feature sophisticated security systems, crooks are using technology to stay ahead of the curve.

Car hackers use keyless hardware sold online for around £1,300 to override a car's security system in a matter of seconds.

Manufacturers said the security has already been tightened for Range Rovers made since 2022 - which dropped thefts to “incredibly low” numbers.

It comes after a mechanic revealed how drivers can "stop any thief" from stealing their motor using a £10 gadget, even if the crooks get inside.

The handy piece of tech is just as effective against insidious new forms of car crime, including keyless thefts.

Drawing on over 50 years of experience, Scotty Kilmer shared some of the best ways you can protect your vehicle.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he responded to a question from an unfortunate viewer whose car had been stolen recently.

The thieves apparently used a professional scanner device to reprogram a new key fob for the motor.

Since it, like many modern cars, used a keyless ignition system, this allowed them to drive off as if they had the original key without even needing to pinch it.

Scotty explained that, in order to use the scan tool, the criminals would likely have had to intercept and clone the key fob signal to get into the car in the first place.
