AN Elvis impersonator with nine points on his licence avoided a ban for an unusual reason after he was caught speeding again.
Spencer Dale feared for his licence after he was clocked doing 79mph in a 70mph zone.
Dale admitted the offence but still faced the prospect of a six month ban and three points on his licence.
Magistrates in Harrogate, North Yorks, heard Dale, 52, was speeding in a Vauxhall Astra Envoy DTI on the A64 near York on August 18 last year.
However magistrates spared him the ban after they heard how the impersonator would suffer “exceptional hardship” if he could not continue working as The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Dale, from Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, was fined £83 and ordered to pay a £33 statutory surcharge and £90 in prosecution costs as part of his sentence.
