A GORGEOUS sports car that Jeremy Clarkson once drove for a DVD special is up for sale.

The legendary Top Gear host got behind the wheel of the stunning set of wheels for his DVD release titled 'Jeremy Clarkson: Head to Head' - where he described it as "so much more than a pretty face."

The car in question is the modern classic Alfa Romeo GTV, which is currently being listed for sale via .

The opening line of the listing reads: "This very car starred in Jeremy Clarkson's DVD Head to Head in 1999, so it has some special interest."

On the Head to Head DVD that's mentioned, Clarkson described the GTV as having "the sort of looks that make a man want to wet his pants."

The throttle response is just so crisp

During the test run, he added: "It may be gorgeous on the surface but there are hidden depths to it too.

"This is so much more than a pretty face, it's got a pretty engine too and what an engine; the throttle response is just so crisp."

Aside from the links to Clarkson, the Alfa GTV has become a cult classic among car enthusiasts and are hot property for collectors - largely thanks to its timeless good looks.

Indeed, YouTube car expert Jonny Brighton recently dubbed the GTV as a "future classic" with “unbelievable good looks".

The motor has another famous fan in the form of Wheeler Dealers host Mike Brewer, who recently snapped up a GTV after he spotted it for sale at the side of a road.

Mike was able to buy the stylish coupe for just £2,000 after the owner admitted it failed its MOT and had been left standing on his driveway.

It later featured in an episode of the hit TV show.

According to the listing, this model boasts around 116,000 miles on the clock.

The current owner added: "Mechanically the car is fine, engine purrs at idle and screams all the way to the rev limiter without any hesitation."

In fact, the only issues they report on the 25-year-old motor are "some small rust bubbles, minor scuffs on bumpers and a few dings", summarising that it "does have some issues that need addressing to keep this car going for another number of years."

Bidding for the motor starts at £2,500, with GTV's generally selling for around £5,000 - judging by current listings on AutoTrader.

This comes as another motor loved by Jezza has gone up for auction - and it's one he described as "so quick, it can destroy your face".
