BP launches new premium fuel to rival Shell V-Power

BP Ultimate with active technology cleans engine as you drive

FUEL company BP has launched a new petrol designed to clean engines and give motorists more miles per gallon.

BP Ultimate with Active technology works to remove dirt built up in engines giving drivers more bang for their buck.

It works by added molecules in the fuel removing dirt and gunk that’s built up around the fuel injector nozzle, with unwanted dirt, causing less and uneven fuel distribution.

The molecules also form a protective layer on the inside of the engine, preventing dirt from building up again.

BP Ultimate with Active technology replaces the BP Ultimate fuel previously found at the pumps, and despite having a similar name, BP insists this is a totally new petrol.

Motorists will get around 21 extra miles to the gallon, but only after using the fuel for 6,200 miles. The firm hope this will be a big enough incentive to encourage everyday drivers to pay a few pence more a litre at the pumps.

BP Ultimate Diesel cleans away the majority of harmful deposits in direct injection diesel engines after two full tanks, so fuel economy benefits should start to be noticeable from then on.

After five years in development, and after 80 different stages of testing, the gas offers an alternative to Shell’s V-Power, which works in similar dirt-busting fashion.

UK Operations Director Priscillah Mabelane commented: “We set out to develop a fuel that would tackle the problem of harmful dirt, genuinely support engine performance and help people maintain the health of their car and avoid costly trips to a mechanic.”

BP insist the fuel works with any engine, of any age and starts working from the very first tank.

The petrol launches globally this week and is currently being rolled out to over 1,000 BP garages in the UK.
