All you need to do is to pull the cruise control stalk four times really fast to unlock the rainbow road.

Once you've activated the Autopilot it will appear highlighted in blue.

The touchscreen normally shows a boring grey road, but with the new feature you can get a colourful lane instead.

The two lane lines will change into a rainbow that is similar to that of Rainbow Road - the final level of the video game Mario Kart.

Drivers can activate the genius button on various Teslas - including the Models S, 3, X and Y.

On Tesla S and X Models the instrument cluster shows the car "driving" down a road.

It indicates where is located within the lane, as well as where the other cars are around it.

But this egg easter feature can do much more than just Rainbow Road.

The car also plays the actual cowbell audio from Saturday Night Live over the stereo.

Hundreds of Tesla drivers took to social media to share their opinions and experience with the new feature.

One user said: "I'm so jealous, I want a Tesla ASAP."

Another added: "You can never have too much Cowbell."
