HERE’S our first proper look at BMWs of tomorrow.
I say tomorrow, the iX3 SUV won’t hit the road until the tail end of 2025, and the retro-cool i3 saloon follows in 2026.
Many tomorrows, then. But that i3 will be well worth the wait.
Both cars are electric, of course, with BMW promising 30 per cent more range and 30 per cent faster charging compared to today’s battery-powered Beemers.
A new, faster-reacting “supercomputer” controls the powertrain and driving dynamics and reduces complexity and weight.
There’s even talk of an iX3 M with four e-motors banging out 1,000hp.

But what if you’re not ready for electric?
Drivers sticking with petrol cars for as long as possible will NOT miss out on the futuristic style and cutting-edge tech. Bosses promised me that. I’ve got it on tape.
Saloons and coupes will follow the design cues of the i3, whether they juice up on petrol or electric.
SUVs will follow the design and thin kidney grille of the iX3, whether they juice up on petrol, electric or hydrogen.

As you can see from the pictures, the cabins use brighter recycled fabrics and have a customisable head-up display which stretches all the way across the bottom of the windscreen.
Hurry up, tomorrow.
