Car whizz reveals 5 ‘unbelievable’ luxury motors for under £5k – including ‘underrated’ Citroen & discontinued Jaguar

A CAR whizz has revealed 5 ";unbelievable" luxury motors you can pick up for under £5,000 - including a discontinued Jaguar.
Car dealer Matt Goodwin, who runs High Peak Autos in Manchester, explained how you can get more bang for your buck picking out "underrated" hidden gems.

In a video on his YouTube channel, he shared some of his recommendations for the best top-line motors you can get hold of for bottom-shelf prices.
Matt said: "There's loads of choice out there.
"Here in the UK, £5,000 will actually get you a decent luxury car.
"But there are some things you need to be careful with too."

Audi A8

Described by Matt as "a lot of car for your money", the A8 range is still one of the brand's flagship models today.
Matt managed to find a second-generation example from 2005 priced at £4,990.
It had just 118,000 miles on the clock and a carries a little extra size compared to the first iteration of the car.
Matt added: "They drive so well, this generation of A8."

He also found a higher-mileage example for just £3,990.
BMW 7 Series

With good examples starting at just £4,500, it's pretty hard to find a better BMW for cheaper on the market these days.
For that price, Matt found a 2006 7 Series that had only done a tick over 100,000 miles under its four previous owners.
That comes with a "bulletproof" engine and Beemer's facelifted design.
However, Matt did warn of the potential for "fiddly" electrical and suspension issues so it's good to check whether those systems have been replaced first.
Lexus GS 300

Matt said: "I know it might look like you've borrowed your grandfather's car.
"But trust me when I say this, I promise you will love driving it.
"You won't have any issues.
"It is a bit of a big lump, but it is so effortless."
He managed to find a 2007 model that had done just 64,000 miles for £4,995.
Citroen C6

These are a little harder to get as Matt could only find four under the budget.
This "underrated" motor is driveable, comfortable and cheap, and also features the same V6 as was used in some models of the Land Rover Discovery.
Matt managed to find one for £3,895 and, while he did initially call it "ugly", he was charmed by its "quirky" nature.
He even admitted that the model is "quite cool in a funny sort of way".
Jaguar XJ

Sneaking in just on budget, with prices hovering around £5,000, the XJ comes with a bit of that signature Jag style.
It shares the V6 engine of the C6 or you can bag a petrol engine version for around the same price, though it will be a little older.
Matt even managed to find one with just 83,000 miles on it, though it was from 2004.

You can't even buy these anymore as the XJ was discontinued in 2019, before being replaced by an electric model in 2021.
He just advised making sure that the timing belt and gearbox had been properly serviced before snapping one up.
