We review the Kia Picanto VR7 from price to economy and all its features
CRISTIANO RONALDO’S brand name is CR7 on underwear.
Kia’s equivalent is VR7 — a new spec on the Picanto, Rio and Cee’d models.
OK, it might not have quite the same glitz and glam as the Real Madrid hunk — but it adds a few nice tricks.
Peter Schreyer has done a sensational job on Kia — turning them from boxy to foxy.
The Picanto and Rio are also two of the most economic cars to run in the UK. The Rio boasts the best genuine fuel economy of any car on our roads. We’ve driven the Picanto VR7 this week thanks to Arnold Clark Kia in Springburn, Glasgow.
Prices start at £9,645. All VR7s get Kia’s seven-year/100,000-mile warranty.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The VR7 spec means a choice of a white, black, sliver or red exterior finish and discount of up to £1,000 on selected models. It just adds a bit more class to a stocky but pretty car.
DRIVE TIME
VR7 might sound like CR7 but you wouldn’t see Ronaldo behind the wheel — it’s no Ferrari as you would expect. There are two 1litre versions — 68bhp and 84bhp. They do the job with little fuss and with decent fuel economy.
INSIDE STORY
All VR7s are fitted with air-con, a leather trimmed steering wheel and Bluetooth as standard. Exterior features such as alloys, reversing sensors, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, plus electric front and rear windows are fitted depending on the model.
