Car-buying guru picks up flawless BMW Z4 for just £1,500 – and hopes to double its price
A CAR-BUYING expert who purchased a second-hand BMW online for £1,500 has revealed just how incredible the steal is.
The autotrader posted his video on YouTube to run fans through the specs - explaining how much a motor like this is actually worth.
Although he found the gem for just £1,500, he added that with £500 spent on it, he hopes that he could get at least £3,000 for the BMW.
The car guru said: "The car should be worth £3,000 all day long, they're quite desirable."
The 2003 motor comes fitted with a powerful 3 litre engine, 6 speed manual, coming in with 184 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 7.1 seconds.
But it's not just a fast car, the Z4 delivers everything a roadster needs.
It's a two-seater with a long hood, short front, soft top, and a modern, athletic design.
The desirable BMW often fetches around £27,000 when unused, and this car isn't that far off it.
The rare find has just 95,000 miles on the clock, which is practically nothing for a car that is two decades old.
As the autotrader set to work on the car, he added: "The engine is a gem."
He did find a few problems with it however - like old tyres, a strange oil smell, and a continuous warning display.
Although, he revealed that the roof worked perfectly - which is often one of the biggest problems with refurbishing a Z4.
He explained that sometimes, if the car isn't well looked after and it gets too wet, the hood can get stuck and then you're left with a convertible car that can no longer convert.
After changing the tyres, sorting out a burning oil smell, adding a new ABS sensor, and giving the car a good clean, the motor expert said he sold the car to a friend.
Despite initially thinking he could make £3,000 off the car "easy", he sold it to his pal for just £1,950.
He said: "I was speaking to a mate who was after something like this so I mentioned this could be sold for around £2,000.
"We agreed on £1,950."
He added: "So yeah that's all I got anyway, £1,950, so I've made a profit of £353.
"It's okay, I can't retire can I? But I'm quite happy with that.
"I think I've done quite well to get £353 profit from it without massively overspending."
It comes as a BMW M1 sold at auction for an eye-watering six figure price.
The iconic car was one of just 453 ever made.
While a BMW Z8 sold for £193,945 with just 30,554 miles on the clock in the summer last year.
