We review the Jaguar F-Type AWD Coupe from price to economy and all its features

THE Jaguar F -Type has had the suits at Porsche twitching.

It has put performance and great design back at the heart of Jaguar's DNA - and made Jags ultra desirable again.

Bigger range... There's now an all-wheel-drive Jaguar F-Type

To underline the point, the F -Type was Britain's best-selling sports car last year with 11,500 sales.

Now the range has been increased from six to 14 models - including a brilliant all-wheel-drive version.

It still has that rear-wheel drive feel but with all-wheel drive traction. And it comes alive in low grip situations.

No fuss... New electric power assisted steering makes driving smoother

We tested the range-topping 5-litre supercharged V8 on a skid pan doused in water. Lots of it.

I'll be honest, crossing rain-soaked white lines at motorway speed can be tricky in some rear-wheel drive cars.

But there was no fuss, no drama in this F-Type as we skipped around the orange traffic cones. It filled you with confidence.

Jaguar has also added electric power assisted steering and some clever kit called Torque Vectoring by Braking which eliminates understeer on the inside wheels through a bend.

But this much fun doesn't come cheap. The 5-litre AWD is £91,650 for the coupe and £97,135 for the convertible.

There's also 3-litre V6 AWD version at £66,900 (coupe) and £72,385 (conver tible).

But if you go for a six-speed manual gearbox, the price drops to £56,735.

It still hits 62mph in 5.7 seconds and keeps you grinning like an idiot up to 161mph.
