But £15k for an electric runabout? That’s impressive.

That’s HALF the price of a battery-powered Vauxhall Corsa.

Of course the new-look Spring won’t go as far as a Corsa.

The tiny 27kWh battery has a maximum range of 137 miles.

But it absolutely works as a second family car or commuter car.

Dacia will confirm prices when orders open next month. But my figures aren’t far off.

The £15k base car has a 45hp e-motor. Or you can pay a bit more for a 65hp e-motor.

All versions get a digital driver’s binnacle, cruise control, speed limiter, five doors, 308-litre boot and those Lambo-inspired Y-shaped lights.

Other observations. Spring is a dinky 3.7 metres-long with a titchy turning circle and a 78mph top speed.

It’s a bantamweight 984kg, which helps range.
