LET’S try a little experiment.
Find the stopwatch on your iPhone and time this next sentence:
“When I win the Lottery I’m going to treat myself to the maddest, baddest, Lamborghini yet.”
Around 2.8 seconds, right? That’s how long it takes to fire this yellow rocket down the road.
Here are the stats: 0-62mph in 2.8, 100mph in 5.9, 124mph in 8.6 and a top speed of 217mph-plus.
Bejesus.
It also costs a whopping £350,723. But you’ll be buying something exclusive (one of only 600), extreme and exciting. The fastest Lamborghini road car ever.
To give this scissor-door supercar its full name, this is the Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce — which means 750hp, four-wheel-drive and “crazy fast” in Italian.
It’s 50kg lighter than your standard £266,715 Aventador with 50hp more grunt, and even more attitude.
Every single cut line does a job and that huge carbon fibre rear wing has helped increase downforce by an incredible 170 per cent. Huge air intakes, matt black rims (20in front/21in rear) with super sticky Pirelli tyres and four “naked” tail pipes all add to the drama.
Lamborghini let me loose for 16 laps of the Catalunya F1 track in Spain — and I did you proud.
Straight on to Corsa track mode (there’s also Strata for road and Sport), I had the 6.5-litre V12 bouncing off the rev limiter in third, fourth and fifth.
The yellow display screen flashes blue, begging you to upshift. There’s also a G-force monitor — but if you’re looking at that, you’re not going fast enough.
As for braking, hold your nerve . . . wait another second . . . wait a bit more . . . then stamp on the carbon ceramic brakes like your enemy — and this bad boy will go from 62mph to zero in just 30 metres.
That’s less than a third of the recognised stopping distance. It’s a real rush but your internal organs might need re-arranging.
Inside, the Aventador SV has clearly been on a diet.
It has been stripped down to the bare carbon fibre tub in places and even the infotainment system (available as a no-cost option) has been binned to reduce weight.
But who needs music anyway? Especially when that awesome V12 is screaming right behind you.
It’s intoxicating.
Just don’t forget your Mega Friday Lotto tickets.
