A DRIVING expert has urged Brits to pick up a popular MG roadster for under £6,000, saying it's a "no brainer" to invest in.
Older and higher mileage models are available for as little as £1,500 and can go "toe-to-toe with some of the world's most impressive smaller sportsters", they raved.
The MG F convertible was manufactured between 1995 and 2002, initially by the Rover Group before MG broke out as a brand on its own.
Produced at the company's Longbridge plant in Birmingham to compete with the popular Mazda MX-5 and Lotus Elan.
Boasting a more than sufficient 1.8-lite inline-four engine, with an optional performance package, it can put out up to 157 horsepower with a 6.8s 0-6mph time.
And it's economical too, managing 38 miles per gallon despite its sportier edge.

Perhaps best of all, according to , it sits in a lower road tax band paying as little as £320, while sitting in insurance group 24, working out to an average cost of £919 across the 20-50 age group.
Motoring experts told : "MGFs are tons of fun, that's a fact.
"Going toe to toe with some of the world's most impressive smaller sportsters at the time, there's a reason this model was popular and they remain so.
"Eminently affordable and with a great, classic look that screams aesthetics as well as performance, this is a no-brainer for those wanting to invest."

And it wasn't the only MG on their list, as they also recommended the ZT 260 model.
But they are a little pricier, ranging from £7,500 to £11,950.
