Ford Capri with ‘Silver Fox’ finish described as a ‘70s GT icon’ hits auction – it turns heads everywhere it goes
A "HIGHLY desirable" Ford Capri with an unusual "Silver Fox" finish has hit auction.
The flash motor was the brand's fastest ever production vehicle at the time of its release in 1970.
Described as a "1970s icon", the Ford Capri 3000GT featured a tuned up 3-litre V6 that put out 138 horsepower and could manage 124mph.
This particular example has covered just under 34,000 miles and features the original factory livery, including a matte black bonnet.
The rest of the bodywork is finished in Ford's "Silver Fox" shade giving it a brushed metal appearance.
Sharing some design qualities with the legendary Mustang, the Capri GT boasts a long bulky bonnet and short rear end, with sleek lines throughout.
The current owner claims to have "spent a substantial amount" on the upkeep of this special classic, adding that it "turns heads everywhere it goes."
Inside, the black vinyl seats and carpeted floors add a touch of class, while the retro dash design features a selection of prominent dials.
And under the bonnet, it has undergone a "comprehensive and professional" mechanical restoration by the Brightwell Motor Company of Hockley, Essex.
The listing on states: "Overall a highly desirable 3000GT and a great example of this '70s GT icon.

"I have always stored the car together with the other vehicles in my collection at a private, secure de-humidified specialist vehicle storage facility located near Rochford, Essex.
"The car has been very well cared for and maintained to the highest standards during my ownership and has never been driven in the rain/ snow or on salted roads during the winter."
Indeed, the owner is so keen on it that he had planned to keep hold of it forever, but has been forced into a sale as they are moving to Ireland and will not have any private garage space there.
The GT is currently listed at £29,995.
