Subaru rally car worth £10k rescued from barn after being abandoned for seven years… a MOUSE was living in the exhaust

The owner could potentially be sitting on a gold mine

A £10,000 SUBARU rally car has been rescued and restored after being abandoned in a barn for seven years - there was even a mouse living in it.

RJ and Brent from WD Detailing brought the gorgeous classic back to life through an intensive two-day process, documented on their YouTube channel.

The owner, Sam, revealed that he bought the Impreza WRX Bugeye rally model when he was just 16 and travelled around the US in it before having kids meant he "had to be an adult" and put it away in storage.

It sat for nearly a decade in a run-down barn on his 400-acre farm in rural Ohio before the WD boys offered to restore it to its former glory.

Having transported the Subaru back to their shop, RJ and Brent set about dismantling it and getting everything ship shape.

The tyres and seats were both removed to be deep-cleaned individually, while the whole body of the car was pressure-washed to within an inch of its life until sparkling.

However, much to their disgust, they discovered a mouse nest complete with a pile of excrement hidden under the bonnet, as well as more evidence of rodent life behind the rear seats.

And when they tried to start the motor up, a dead mouse was propelled from the exhaust pipe onto the shop floor at quite some speed, leaving them gagging.

Nonetheless, they got on with the job, giving the bright yellow racer a thorough wax and polish, leaving it looking almost as good as new.

Even the floor mats got the VIP treatment with a powerful vacuum cleaner and a deep cleaning wash.

It was all worth it in the end though because, as a reward for their hard work, Sam took the boys for a spin in the newly restored WRX, barreling along dirt tracks and over rolling fields.

And while it probably holds to dear a place in his heart, if he ever wanted to sell it, it could fetch up to around £10,000.

Not only that, but Subaru prices are on the up, with the average across all models increasing by over £8,000 last year alone, making them great investment pieces.

Social media commenters certainly loved it.

It comes after a Ford Capri that is believed to have outrun police in a 1980s high-speed chase sold for £23,000.
