With its purring 3.0L engine the iconic three-door can hit speeds of up to 121mph and goes 0-60 mph in 9.5 seconds.

What's more, the car has all its original interior with no tears or damage to its black leather and fabric seats.

In a listing on eBay, the seller revealed they snapped up the car at auction as a non-runner but managed to get it going again after some work.

They explained: "The points, condenser, plugs and a new battery was fitted and a oil change and some fresh petrol was put in and the car sprung into life and sounded very well.

"A quiet engine with and no rattles or plumes of blue smoke out of the exhausts."

The Capri was designed to be the Ford Mustang of Europe and became one of the most sought after cars in the UK.

Nearly 1.9 million units were sold between 1968 and 1986, making it one of Ford's most successful models.

This bargain Ghia comes with Capri pepper pot wheels which while not original give the car a retro look.

Exterior chrome and stainless steel fittings run across the length and breadth of the motor and appear in good condition.

It also boasts its original boot carpet and parcel shelf but the seller says it would be a good candidate for a "light restoration".

It comes as a 1985 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection was listed on eBay for just £3,950.

But the next owner must be prepared to undertake a full restoration to get the vintage motor back on the road.

While a mint 1986 Capri has hit the market in Essex.

With 119,500 miles on the clock the car could fetch up to £40,000.
