DRIVERS could save hundreds on their car insurance every year by simply making a "tweak" to their job title, experts have claimed.

Research from found that motorists paid 58% more for their cover in 2023 than the previous year, the seventh such rise in a row.

Fortunately, specialists from fleet management company were on hand to share their top tips on how to keep premiums down in 2024.

They recommended trying out small tweaks to the you put down on your quote form to see what gets you the best deal.

The experts said: "One user saved £100 by using “software” rather than “computer games” in their job title.

"Have a play around with titles in the remit of what you do to see what you could save money."

And Martin Lewis' site MoneySavingExpert even offers a "job picker" tool to help you work out which title will get you the largest saving.

Just make sure that the option you go for still accurately describes what you do.

Lying on your application could see your policy voided and other companies refuse to insure you - you could even be charged with insurance fraud.

Other hacks for reducing the cost of your policy include investing in extra security measures for your motor, paying annually rather than monthly or taking extra driving qualifications.

Likewise, experts advise never accepting the renewal quote you are initially offered and shopping around to see if you can get a better price.

There are a range of comparison sites available online which allow you to receive quotes from insurance giants as well as smaller companies that might offer greater incentives.

It comes after a Tesla owner told how his policy rocketed from £1,500 to £2,500 a year as insurers "don't understand EVs".
