Gleaming Ford Capri with three-litre engine up for auction after being kept locked up for almost 45 years
A GLEAMING three litre Ford Capri which was kept locked up for nearly 45 years is now up for auction.
The midnight blue beauty is now on the market after being kept in dry storage for decades.
The Ford Capri 3.0L V6 Ghia 1978 has clocked up just 45500 since she was registered in 1978, when James Callaghan was Prime Minister.
The new owner will be roaring around country lanes powered by the Ford's famous three litre engine.
This was the car that was made famous in The Professionals and Minder, when thousands of ordinary blokes dreamed of roaring off in their own Capri.
The advert reads: "Engine is smooth and powerful once fired, has had fresh oil but needs the carburetor cleaned."
The interior dates back to the late 70s, and there is a hairline crack on the dash.
The stunning body was built by Ghia, the coachbuilders who date back to 1916.
The motor is parked up near Chepstow NP16, where the new owner will have to collect it.
And other Ford Capris have emerged before being sold at auction.

A "unicorn" 1984 Capri MK3 1.6-litre had only picked up 36,000 miles on the clock having spent most of its life sat in a Buckinghamshire garage.
And a similar Ford Capri also went up for sale with a gorgeous yellow paintjob.
Meanwhile, a new Capri has been spotted after taking a test run decades after being pulled from production.
