The all-new SU7 is the latest electric-saloon - and it's set to rival the Porsche Taycan.

Those lucky enough to see the swish motor on the roads have dubbed it "fast as hell" - and it's bonus features make it an enviable ride.

During an event Shanghai on Thursday, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said the company is aiming to establish itself as "one of the world’s top five car makers" within the next two decades.

He added: "Xiaomi will rival Porsche and Tesla, and create a dream car for the new era of the automotive industry."

According to the smartphone company, the future EV lineup will include an SUV, among other models under the new business model.

Xiaomi’s first production model is based on a new electric car platform in the industry which internally known as Modena.

The styling of the SU7 was developed in-house under the leadership of Sawyer Li, Xiaomi’s head of design

The latest SU9 is regarded to be "extremely fast", capable of reaching 62mph in 2.78 seconds from standstill.

Power for the SU7 comes from Xiaomi’s own electric motors called the V6, V6s and V8s - all named after traditional combustion engine arrangements.

The dual-motor SU7 model uses a combination of the V6 and V6s motors for an overall output of 664bhp.

Another feature that the car boasts is its self-driving autopilot for parking.

The feature, already available in leading car models such as Tesla, is being hailed to be better than the rivals.

It can intelligently park the car in the perfect spot - and can also detect incoming vehicles and other objects in the path and maneuver accordingly with utmost precision.

The first batch of production for the SU7 has already begin in Beijing - with global sales set to start soon after the Chinese launch next year.
