‘Special’ Ford Capri with rare look that received prestigious award goes up for auction at eye-watering price

A FORD CAPRI that was the recipient of a prestigious award just a few years ago has gone up for auction – but it’ll cost you an arm and a leg.
The 1973 RSV3100, decked out in striking blue, was also the template for a popular replica toy.
The car had just 8,867 miles on the clock at its last MOT, conducted in November, which it passed with no advisories, according to DVSA records.
In 2021, it won an award from the RS3100 Owners Club, coming out on top of a ballot of all members.
This exact motor was also used by popular toymakers Corgi as the reference for their diecast model of the Capri.
It is one of just 27 produced by the Lynford Motor Company of Kings Lynn, Norfolk, that feature the Olympic Blue paint job and used to belong to a close pal of renowned Capri expert, the late Len Pierce.
The listing states that it is still regularly enjoyed by the current owner.
And its three-litre V6 still packs quite a punch, with a top speed over 100mph which was a decent clip for a ’70s coupe.
The Capri will go under the hammer at the Warwickshire Event Centre on December 9 as part of Christmas Sale, with a guide price of £54,000.
Also in that sale is a stunning fleet of “time capsule” cars still in showroom condition.
The collection includes a retro VW Camper which has only average around 500 miles a year and a “factory fresh” Land Rover.
It comes after a luxury Ferrari with just seven miles on the clock went up for sale at an eye-watering price.
