Bugatti has revealed the new 1,578 horsepower Bolide, branded by as the "evil twin" of its Chiron model, which ranked as the fastest car in the world this year.

Weighing just 1,450kg, it is built from composite carbon fibre and designed to run on 98Ron super unleaded fuel.

For reference, that's the same weight as the average VW Passat with just under ten times the horsepower.

Every inch of the body has been specially constructed to fit around the vehicle's beating heart in the form of a quadruple turbocharged W16 engine.

Inside, both seats come with a six-point harness seatbelt approved by the FIA, the governing body of global motorsport brands like F1 and the World Rally Championship.

Only 40 are set to be produced and this, combined with its unbelievable speed, results in a huge price tag of £3.5 million each.

If you can afford that, initial deliveries are scheduled for next year.

However, you're unlikely to see on out and about as the Bolide is not actually road legal.

The hypercar doesn't meet pesky rules like noise limits and having enough mirrors so is reserved for track use only.

But if you really need to get on the open road and be able to lay down 300mph, you can always pick up the Chiron Super Sport 300+ for a cool £2.99 million.

That's the base price, though, as its sister car just became the most expensive ever sold at auction after fetching an astonishing £8.7 million.

It comes after there was agony for drivers as they now face a 5p fuel duty rise in just months.

Meanwhile, a car expert shared three handy tips for de-fogging your windscreen.
