THERE'S A GOOD TOY!

From solar panels to doggie windows, the new Fisker Ocean has plenty of novelties but it’ll set you back a hefty sum

Plus, the gimmick that puts the car in 'Hollywood mode'

IF dogs could talk, they’d tell you to fetch one of these.

It’s called the Fisker Ocean and it’s got two DOGGIE WINDOWS at the back.

Solar panels add to up to 1,500 free miles of range a year - at least in sunny places like Los AngelesCredit: Supplied

They’re just big enough for pooches to stick their heads out and catch the breeze.

But not big enough for them to fall or jump out and get hurt.

Like it?

I know many of you will – and the novelties that make this car different don’t stop there.

Press the “California” button and all eight glass panels including the doggie windows, boot window and sunroof open simultaneously – giving this electric SUV the feel of a convertible.

Fisker bods tell me you can load a surfboard through the boot window.

More like some skirting board from B&Q, pal.

When you stop to recharge, the upright screen rotates 90 degrees to “Hollywood mode” for watching TV.

Eat your lunch from one of the “taco trays” which extend from the dash and centre console.

Solar panels on the roof add as much as 1,500 free miles of range a year in sunny places like Los Angeles.

More like 1.5 miles in Leicester. But it’s all progress.

Much of the interior features recycled materials and, much like a Tesla, over-the-air software updates mean this car will never get old.

Now I should perhaps explain that Fisker is a Californian start-up founded by ex-Aston Martin designer Henrik Fisker.

But he’s thinking big.

The Ocean is being built in Austria with UK deliveries starting now. You order online.

The £37k base car is single-motor front-wheel drive and 275hp.

Which is more than enough for most people.

But there’s also a twin-motor all-wheel drive version with 564hp, “Hyper” mode and wipe-clean seats. That’s £50k.

Like the Kia EV9, I reckon this car will be shortlisted for a 2024 World Car award for being innovative, eco-friendly and cool.

Fisker is also working on a smaller car called PEAR (Personal Electric Automotive Revolution).

It will be built by Apple iPhone makers Foxconn and is expected to cost around £25k. Apples and Pears.
