A MAJOR car brand has teased a new relaunch, as it ditches petrol-only motors.

Toyota has given hints of a new model soon to roll off production lines in a boost to the electric vehicle market.

Reports suggest the Japanese car-maker could be about to unveil a new edition of its Camry model which was last updated in 2018.

The firm released a shadowy image of an unidentified make of car, suggesting a new announcement was on the way.

Toyota accompanied it online with the words, "A new dawn is coming", before adding only: "Can you guess what's on the horizon?"

Potential plans for a new version of the mid-size sedan Camry come as the company continues to move away from petrol-only cars, with developments such as its newest hybrid C-HR.

The Camry could relaunch with a new hybrid power train, according to .

Speculation suggests a new Camry could be unveiled at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show next month.

The expected move comes despite widespread concerns raised about EVs - including doubts about battery performance, insurance costs and a shortage of charging points.

But supporters say they bring environmental benefits through not pumping out petrol carbon emissions and could bring down costs for motorists in the long-term.

In June last year Toyota issued a global recall for its first all-electric vehicle, due to problems with its wheels.
