DRIVERS have been given an urgent warning over a nighttime driving mistake which could see them fined £5,000.
The simple error could see you slapped with a whopping penalty bill but can be fixed for free.

Abigayle said: "There’s something we need to address drivers, those who drive at night because I’ve seen too many drivers doing this.
"Not only is it against the law, it’s extremely dangerous.

Driving without your lights on could see you collared for driving without due care and attention.
This comes with a £100 fine and three penalty points on your licence.

Make sure your automatic lights are still on each time you have a service and check that they are still functioning regularly.
If your lights break or experience a fault, drive to the nearest mechanic in the daytime and get them fixed or replaced as soon as possible.
