A classic Ford Escort RS Cosworth that enthusiasts thought to be ‘lost’ for the past 31 years has been rediscovered and is up for sale at an eye-watering amount.
The 1992 rally car was located in Australia and, due to its history and immaculate condition, has an amazing guide price of £160-£200k.
Having covered just 703 miles in more than three decades this special ‘Cossie’ is about as original as it gets.
The Escort RS Cosworth was a 'homologation special' - designed to help Ford’s rallying aspirations.
Just 2,500 road cars were made; each capable of 150mph and easily identified by having the now famous ‘whale tail’ rear spoiler.
This particular car was delivered new in 1992 with the factory ‘Motorsport’ specification, which means being finished in Diamond White paintwork and having the air conditioning deleted.

But, it had an extremely brief rally career, covering just a few hundred miles in Indonesia, before being sidelined in 1993.
In the 2000s, the Escort was shipped to Australia, although sadly had many more years of being under a cover and tucked away in a garage.
However, just two years ago, the racy Escort was finally purchased by its current owner who brought it back to the UK and has now put it up for sale with Silverstone Auctions.
