We’re facing losing our family business due to ‘catastrophic’ new parking rules introduced by council – it’s a disgrace
A FAMILY business faces closure because of “catastrophic” parking rules introduced by the local council, its owner has warned.
Much-loved Indian restaurant Butlers Balti House was voted the second-best in Sheffield in 2020, but owner Sajid Quader said new council parking rules may put it out of business.
Sheffield City Council is taking away the curry house’s parking bays, and permission to park near it could be pushed back from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Sajid told the : “We are already suffering with cars not being able to park on the pavement, customers getting ticketed and customers’ cars being damaged.
“If this comes into action it is a serious issue and we are having to face the real consideration of closing the restaurant for good.
“Currently we are finding that customers who do bring their cars only park on one side of the road as any cars parked with tyre on pavement have been issued tickets and consequently ruined the night out.
“‘We have found that many customers having a bad experience with parking and not returning back as a result.”
Butlers Balti House, which has a four-star rating on TripAdvisor, has already been hit hard by high energy prices, rising bills and Clean Air Zone restrictions.
Sajid claimed that if the council’s new rules force it to shut, 26 jobs could be lost and local suppliers could be hurt.
Sheffield City Council has been contacted for comment.
It comes after furious residents on a newbuild estate said they can’t park on their own drives because of their council’s failure to act.
The Sun revealed that a top money expert is urging drivers to check their parking tickets for a hidden detail that could help them appeal a fine.
The expert also shared how drivers can use a little-known 10-minute rule to appeal their parking tickets and win.
