Workers forced to tarmac around cars after drivers leave motors parked on street – despite signs warning of resurfacing

THESE hilarious photos show how workers were forced to tarmac AROUND cars left on the street during roadworks.

Two motorists were left red faced in Helston, after the work was done around their cars.

Resourceful workers decided to carry on around the obstructions, leaving the Peugeot 306 and Mini Cooper in place on the old surface as the new one was created.

The snaps show the Peugeot parked right next to a large yellow sign, which clearly reads: "Surfacing works. No parking between 6pm and 6am."

However, their decision to ignore this led to embarrassment as the new black tarmac stops abruptly by the sign, only to continue about a yard beyond the car's front bumper.

Likewise, the Mini found itself perched on a slab of old road, noticeable as it's a far lighter colour than the rest of the street.

One resident, Vicky Paget, told that signs notifying local of the work had been up for some time.

She said: "To be honest it made laugh after almost zero sleep from the noise and how some people pay no attention to all the signs and leaflets about the roadworks.

"My kids watch YouTube shorts and it just made me think of the video with the sound ‘you can’t park there’."

Fellow resident David Rule added that the mishap made him laugh out loud.

He chuckled: "To be fair, I think the council did a pretty good job going around him"

Online commenters were similarly unsympathetic.

One wrote: "If the cars are damaged in any way, [it's the] drivers' fault for not heeding the signs.

"Get the vehicles removed and have the drivers pay a fee to get them back."

Another chimed in: "An expensive towing fee and storage cost should provide ample motivation for next time."
