It was on its fifth owner before the sale, who had owned and cherished it for 10 years until now.

The RS500 was a homologation special, meaning it was sold to the public in small numbers to allow Ford to go racing.

It's powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine producing around 224bhp driving the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.

The car comes with its original owner’s manuals, stamped service booklet, file of maintenance invoices, original sales brochure and original untouched first aid kit housed within the parcel shelf.

The buyer also gets an additional set of four genuine alloy wheels fitted with period-correct tyres.

The advert reads: 'This Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth is an iconic modern classic homologation special, which presents in ‘time warp’ condition, and boasts an impressive recent service history despite its very low mileage.

'Described by the seller as ‘driving like a new car’ and in truly impressive order throughout, it would make a crowd-pleasing attendee at any car show, and an entertaining companion for spirited drives on its new owner’s favourite B-roads.'
