SPORTY Spanish Seat offshoot Cupra has revealed three new electrified models that it will launch in Britain before 2025.

Called the Terramar, the Tavascan and the UrbanRebel, they are all part of plans Cupra has to grow quickly and sell 500,000 cars a year.

The new models will be a mix of plug-in hybrid and fully-electric

The Terramar will arrive in 2024 and be a sports SUV with plug-in hybrid tech that allows it to go 62 miles on electricity but then switch to a petrol engine.

Also coming in 2024 will be the Tavascan, a family-sized all-electric SUV that will focus on a sporty drive.

But probably the most exciting of the new trio will be the UrbanRebel.

This started out as a small car, but has now been switched to ride higher as a small SUV - such is the demand for SUVs around the globe.

The UrbanRebel is perfect for the city - it's all-electric too, with a very healthy 273-mile range and a length of just over four meters for easy parking and nipping in and out of traffic.

Cupra says '3D printed and 3D knitted manufacturing approaches' will keep the price and weight down.

The latter means the UrbanRebel's 226hp motor between its front wheels will be able to propel it to 62mph in just 6.9 seconds.

Not long ago that was Golf GTI pace and easily quicker than most small SUVs on sale today.

On the price front, Cupra reckons the UrbanRebel will start at around £25,000.

That's keen for a small SUV these days, let alone an electric one that looks this good and goes that well.

Werner Tietz, vice-president for research & development at Cupra said: “The Cupra UrbanRebel will be the biggest project for our company in the upcoming years, since it is key for our transformation as a fully electric brand.

"We are leading the cluster development, the family of vehicles that will democratise sustainable urban mobility, for different brands within the Volkswagen Group”
