A FORD Capri — the only one of its kind — made in 1972 and with only one owner is set to make £60,000 at auction.
The orange prototype RS 3100 was bought for £1,500 — the equivalent of £21,000 in today’s money.
It has 70,700 miles on the clock and pictures of it appear in the popular car model’s handbook.
The RS, the “racing brother” of the Ford Capri, was made in South Ockendon, Essex.
It is considered the “Holy Grail” of Capris.
Simon Langsdale, of seller Classic Car Auctions, said: “This fabulous Capri represents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to own a special piece of Ford’s RS history.”
