M25 closed: Travel chaos as COOKING OIL spill after lorry crash forces key motorway to be shut
A MAJOR motorway has been closed for the second day in a row after a lorry crashed and spilled COOKING OIL all over the road.
The M25 is closed between South Mimms and Enfield after the HGV collided with the central reservation yesterday, causing traffic chaos.
A cleanup operation is still underway this morning, closing the major road for the second day between Junction 23 and Junction 25.
There are four miles of congestion on approach to the incident, in a clockwise direction, according to National Highways.
Earlier, three lanes were closed between Junction 24, near Potters Bar, and Enfield. Now, all four lanes are closed as emergency services attend to the scene.
A spokesman for National Highways said in a tweet: "The M25 clockwise in Hertfordshire remains closed between J23 and J25.

“The road is likely to remain closed throughout the morning due to the complex nature of the clean-up. There are delays of 90 minutes between J21 and J25, please consider alternative routes."
A spokesman for the Met Police added: “Police are at the scene dealing with a lorry that was in a collision on the M25.
"Officers were called at about 11:15hrs to the M25, just between Junction 24 and 25.
"A lorry was reported to have been in collision with the central reservation and spilt cooking oil over the road.

“The M25 has been closed clockwise from Junction 23 to Junction 25. Motorists are advised to avoid the area."
Sullivan Buses have also been forced to divert their services due to the ongoing M25 road closure.
Bus users are advised they may experience 'long delays' on routes 84 and 398 due to the diverting traffic.
It has been reported that roads in South Mimms are "barely moving" as a result of the diversions.

They said: “Due to the ongoing M25 closure, South Mimms and surrounding areas are barely moving with diverting traffic.
“Expect long delays on routes 84 and 398. You are advised to allow extra time for your journeys or, if possible, delay them till later in the day.”
