I was charged £100 for parking despite being INSIDE the lines – don’t make the same mistake I did

A DRIVER has told how he was slapped with a £100 fine - even though he parked INSIDE the lines.

Reddit user F1shcake will have to fork out the sum after he left his car overhanging the curb in Cheshire Oaks car park.

He posted pictures of the way he left his car on the social platform and has warned others to make sure they don’t do the same.

The snaps show in the empty car park he pulled his car so far forward the bumper is hanging over the footpath - while there is plenty of room behind.

He wrote on : “Don't make the same mistake I did.

“Overhanging the curb at an even deserted Cheshire Oaks results in a £100 fine.”

He added: “I get if there's a wheelchair user who can't get past... But is a bit of a feels bad when it was so unbelievably quiet.”

While people agreed with him that it was harsh, more users said he deserves the fine for the “bad parking.”

One person wrote: “I mean he is parked like a fool how would a wheel chair or a double pushchair get past?”

Another said: “Wouldn't overhanging the curb technically constitute as parking outside of the designated bays?

“No one more entitled than car drivers.”

And a third explained exactly why the rule is an important one to police.

They wrote: “This would seriously scupper my Dad on his mobility scooter.

“If he tried to come off the curb he'd fall out of the scooter, maybe tip it over depending on the angle and if he tried to reverse he'd also come off the curb as he can't turn his head much and the mirrors can't angle down sufficiently.

“So he'd have to wait there until someone came along.

“Previously he has p*ssed himself waiting for someone to move their car from blocking the pavement where he couldn't go around.

“That little bit of carelessness is a whole heap of trouble for someone less able.”
