DRIVERS have shared a genius trick to remove frost and snow from your car in seconds to help you avoid a £100 fine - and all you need is a blanket.

Temperatures are set to drop across the country next week with snow expected in some parts of the UK.

Failing to clear frost or snow off your car before driving could see you slapped with a £100 fine and three points on your licence.

There are ways you can avoid forking out for official car covers and de-icing equipment.

Motorists on TikTok have been sharing a viral clip of how to easily and quickly remove snow from your windscreen.

All you'll need is an old blanket or towel, which you can leave on the car overnight.

Place it over the windscreen, keeping it secure under the windscreen wipers so it doesn't blow away during the night.

By simply whipping off the cover in the morning, you can remove the build up of ice and snow in a flash.

You can then set off with a clear windscreen, avoiding the chance of a fine.

There are other free and easy ways to avoid build ups of frost - sometimes it can be as simple as planning your parking right.

If you park in the right direction the night before, with your car front window pointing east, it'll be in the direct line of the sun rising – that way nature will do the de-icing work for you in slowly melting frost built up.

You could also tie plastic bags over your wing mirrors overnight to save yourself another defrosting job in the morning.

There are some winter car tips that you should ignore - like pouring boiling water on a frosted window - as they could actually cost you money in the long term

Make sure you know the rules of the road, such as yellow line parking restrictions, to avoid fines.
