And it could be on the road a lot sooner than you think.

Unveiled at the North American Commercial Vehicle Show, the HDC-6 Neptune was inspired by the streamliner railway trains which ran from 1936 to 1959.

The driverless concept vehicle features a sliding door, spiral staircase and even a large lounge room.

It also boasts a refrigerated trailer which uses cryogenic nitrogen cooling technology that Hyundai claims can reduce greenhouse gases.

The trailer was also designed from the same one-piece panel to help make it lighter, stronger and better insulated for carrying perishable goods.

Hydrogen-powered cars are electric vehicles which has its power generated by a series of chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen.

While still being developed, the technology is considered to be an environmentally mode of transport as the only waste product that comes from the car's tailpipe is water.

They also offer a higher mileage range than other traditional electric vehicles and can be refuelled in short amount of time, making it an ideal option for heavy goods vehicles.

The motors also have a series of air filters which allows it to draw in dirty air and clean it as it drives along.

The concept vehicle is in the early stages of production in the US.

But the South Korean automaker remains confident in its ability to get them on the road, with it planning to build 500,000 hydrogen-powered motors each year by 2030.

Luc Donckerwolke, chief design officer at Hyundai Motor Group, said: "The fuel cell powertrain gave us the opportunity to redefine the classical typology and architecture of the truck.

"The Hyundai Commercial Vehicles Design Team started with a white sheet of paper focusing on the new defined functionality resetting all standards in order to project commercial vehicles in the future."
