Dilapidated terrace house listed for just £1 sells for £180k despite ‘house of horrors’ interior
A DILAPIDATED terrace house listed for just £1 has sold for £180,000 at an auction despite its "house of horrors" interior.
The exterior of the three-bed property in Acocks Green, in Birmingham, looks perfectly normal - but inside the house is in need of a full refurbishment.
In the house, there are piles of rubbish, gaping holes in the walls, hanging plaster and heaps of rubble strewn across the floor.
Its rundown condition meant it was put on the market at the knockdown price.
However it didn't deter buyers when it went under the hammer yesterday at Villa Park.
The buyer, who now has a huge refurbishment job on their hands, bought the house for £181,000.
Auctioneer Andrew Parker, from SDL Auctions Bigwood, said: "We knew this property would attract some serious bidding and were not disappointed.
"Serious property developers relish a challenge and will have looked beyond this house's outward appearance.
"The property actually has a lot going for it.

"Although it's in a pretty poor state right now, it retains some beautiful period features such as cast iron fireplaces, a bay window and picture rails.
"I'm sure the new owner will work their magic on it and it will be unrecognisable from the 'house of horrors' you see today."
