HELP IS COMING

Brits to get £150bn energy bill bailout update next week

BRITS are expected to get an update on the £150billion energy bill bailout next week.

Businesses and consumers are still waiting for the exact details of the huge package of help - and how they can access it.

No10 yesterday reassured worried businesses that although the help may not come until November, they will get help with October's energy bills.

Officials are working “at pace” on a rescue plan but warn it may not be ready until November.

Households will get emergency help from next month with average bills set to be capped at £2,500 - but there is no such mechanism for firms.

Consumers are expected to get help directly from their energy suppliers - and are likely to not have to do anything to benefit from the new price cap.

But there is little detail on how businesses will get the same help.

Many have said they will go bust without urgent help soon, as their bills are expected to spiral.

The energy bill help is to be in place for October 1, ministers say, which was when the price cap was due to rocket.

Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng will also deliver his emergency mini-Budget next Friday - with Commons recess dates expected to be ripped up to make extra time.
