Aldi is hiring new staff around the UK and you could get paid over £76k a year
BUDGET supermarket Aldi is on the hunt for area managers and you could earn more than £76,000 a year.
You'd have to complete a twelve-month training programme and then you get the opportunity to work for the discounter full time.
You get a generous starting salary of £44,000 per annum and then it rises in increments so that by your fifth year you'll earn £76,495.
There's other great benefits too. From the very first day you get a fully-expensed Audi A4 or BMW 3 Series.
Of course, that means to apply you'll need to have a driving license.
You also need to have graduated with at least a 2:i and a minimum of 96 UCAS points (240 under the old system) from your top three A Levels - not including general studies.
That's the equivalent of three Cs.
What does the job involve?
The job is designed to train you up as an Aldi area manager.
You'll get an experienced mentor to help you learn the ropes and then learn how the stores work from the ground up.
That involves a week stacking shelves, learning about products and customer service and getting to grips with the store's management approach.
Holidays are at defined times for the first year - your first block of time off is the 14th week.
By week 15 Aldi gives you the keys to a store to put your management training into practice.
In week 25 you take charge of a multi-million pound business, planning the rota, ordering the products and managing a team.
As well as moving towards becoming a store manager, you also learn about HR processes, health and safety, ordering and availability.
You'll also work with the accounts, trading and businesses administration teams.
If you stay on past the 12 month training, by your third or fourth year you might get the chance to do an international secondment in Europe, the US or Australia.
Where will I be working?
Aldi is broken up into 10 different locations dotted all over the country.
You can select your first and second choice when you apply, but they might ask you to work elsewhere.
You could find yourself working in any one of:
- Bathgate
- Bolton
- Cardiff
- Chelsmford
- Darlington
- Goldthorpe
- Neston
- Sawley
- Sheppey
- Swindon
There are usually between 100 and 150 openings in any given year, but most are recruited in the Autumn and the spots are highly competitive.
Aldi currently has 40 Graduate Area Manager requirements and 38 Area Manager - Career Changer requirements across the UK.
How do I apply for the job?
The first stage is an online application. This includes various tests to assess your judgement and analytical skills.
You'll then be asked to complete a psychometric test, designed to measure core skills and personal qualities.
Next you need to submit a five video application called: "who am I?". Aldi says you should demonstrate that you are a determined charismatic leader.
The fourth stage is a group assessment, and the discounter says this is a tough round. You need to show that you can work as a team, but also stand out as a natural leader.
The final step is an interview with the regional managing director.
