ON A ROLL

Greggs new evening menu includes a meal deal with chicken goujons, wedges and a drink for £4

GREGGS is rolling out a new evening menu and meal deal to over 500 locations across the UK this month.

Available from “Hot to Go” counters, the dinner time selection includes southern fried chicken goujons and spicy BBQ chicken bites.

There’s also an evening meal deal from 4pm until close where hungry customers can get any hot dinner main, wedges and a drink for £4.

On top of this, Greggs fans can get any pizza and drink for £2 after 4pm, as well as any hot sandwich, wedges and drink for £4.

The evening menu launched in 119 shops last year but now the bakery chain says it’ll be available in over 500 branches by September 21.

Greggs has 2,000 shops in the UK which means a quarter of branches will welcome the "Hot to Go" counters.

If your Greggs cravings tend to kick in first thing, there's also a new breakfast selection available in the hot counters.

The bakery chain will be serving a breakfast box, complete with beans, cheese omelette, pork sausages and mini hash browns.

There's also a veggie option available and a new creamy porridge with oats, double cream and cinnamon.

Earlier this year, we reported how Greggs wanted to try late-night opening hours alongside it's evening menu.

  • Spicy BBQ chicken bites (267 calories) - from £1.50

Back in July, the sausage roll and sandwich giant said it will choose select stores to shut as late as 9pm, starting in October.

When we put this to Greggs, the bakery chain said the trading hours for stores getting "Hot to Go" counters will not be adjusted at the moment.

The majority of Greggs across the UK are open for 12 hours a day, with usual opening times from 6am to 6pm apart from a few located in airports and train stations.

Newcastle Airport has a 24-hour Greggs, while the one in London Bridge Station closes at 11pm.

Customers can currently get a lunchtime meal deal for £3.15 including a sandwich, bake, pasta or salad and a drink.

There’s also a breakfast meal where you can grab a sausage, egg or bacon roll and a drink for £2.

Greggs recently unveiled its autumn menu and it includes the return of its pumpkin spiced latte and chicken and pepperoni bake.

The bakery chain also confirmed it's working on vegan versions of ALL its top-selling pasties after the success of its meat-free sausage roll.

Greggs has revealed plans to open 100 new shops by the end of the year as the company released sales figures for the year so far.

Greggs made a billion pounds in 2018 and Chief Exec Roger Whiteside says the vegan sausage roll has helped 2019 get off to a banger
