Nectar customers can now use points to buy or rent Sky movies and box-sets – and you don’t need a Sky subscription

NECTAR customers can now use their points to buy or rent Sky movies and box-sets even if you don't pay for a subscription.

Shoppers can collect the loyalty points by spending money at stores that have signed up to the scheme like Sainsbury's, eBay and Argos.

They can also spend them with the same retailers by making purchases though the Nectar app or website, or scanning their card at the till.

And can now use them to rent films and programmes through the Sky Store.

You'll need to collect a specific amount of points before purchasing a voucher that can be used on the streaming site.

A thousand points will get you a £5.99 voucher, 1,400 points can be used to buy a coupon for £7.99 and 2,800 points will buy you a £15.99 voucher.

But it may take shoppers a while before they collect enough to buy one.

What can my Nectar points buy on the Sky Store?

SHOPPERS can collect one point for every £1 spent at a retailer who's signed up to the scheme. But they're not worth as uch when it comes to spending them.

Here's how many points you'll need to buy vouchers at the Sky Store:

  • £5.99 for 1,000 points
  • £7.99 for 1,400 points
  • £9.99 for 1,750 points
  • £11.99 for 2,100 points
  • £13.99 for 2,450 points
  • £15.99 for 2,800 points

Customers collect one point for every £1 spent, so you'll need to spend £1,000 in store before you have enough to rent a film.

You don't normally need to pay for Sky TV to access Sky Store, and prices vary depending on what you want to download, how long you want to keep it for and the quality.

For example, you can download a copy of Tim Burton's Dumbo in HD to keep for £13.99, or pay £3.49 to rent it in standard definition for £3.49.

You'll need to pay £16.99 to download and watch Big Little Lies season two - there's no option to rent it for less.

Shoppers can buy the vouchers via the Nectar website or app and to redeem it, you will need to create a free Sky Store account.

To access the Sky Store, you'll need to either get the app or find the website on your computer, TV, mobile, tablet, NowTV or Chromecast.

Once you've signed in, you then need to click on the "redeem your voucher" button and type in the code. The money will then be added to your account.

Sky customers will also have to sign in via the site or app as they can't be redeemed through a Sky+HD or Sky Q box, although you will be able to send "buy and keep" purchases to your box.

Vouchers will only be valid until July 31 2020, regardless of when you bought it.
