Quality Street has increased the number of popular sweets in tins as part of massive shake-up
QUALITY Street owner Nestle has shaken up the number of chocolates in tins and says its increased the amount of popular sweets.
The mix of chocolate sweets has gone up to 46 per cent – up from the 35 per cent it stood at this time last year.
This includes the Purple One, the Green Triangle, Caramel Swirl and Milk Choc Block.
Also in this list is the Orange Chocolate Crunch and the new Chocolate Caramel Brownie.
The rest of each tin, which makes up 54 per cent, consists of the Toffee Finger, Toffee Penny and Fudge.
It also includes the Strawberry Delight, Orange Creme and Coconut Eclair.
The new ratio means you have an 11 per cent more chance of finding one from the mix of chocolate sweets.
Nestle couldn’t give us the exact number of sweets you’ll get as this will vary from tin to tin.
But they said their new ratio comes from consumer and market research on which chocolates are the most desired.
Quality Street, which is now 83 years old, comes in a 650g tub and a 1kg tin in most UK supermarkets.
The average RRP is £5 for the 650g tub but Morrisons and Tesco have an offer where you can get two tubs for £7.
This takes the cost down to £3.50 each.
There’s also a special 800g gold tin exclusively at Tesco and 2kg tins in Costco.
But chocoholics might be shocked to know that tubs of Quality Street have shrunk again this year.
Last year a standard tub of Quality Street weighed 698g but it has dropped down to 650g.
This means the much-loved Christmas treats have dropped by a whopping 46 per cent in the last 11 years.
Each tub typically has around just under 500 calories 55g of sugar per 100g.
Earlier this year we revealed how Quality Street axed the Toffee Deluxe again to make way for the new Chocolate Caramel Brownie.
Ellie Worley, senior brand manager for Quality Street, said: “I know just how much people love Quality Street and we work really hard to find that
balance between keeping things fresh but also familiar.
“We’ve been listening and I think we’ve got the perfect mix this year and made the changes that people have told us they’d like to see.”
If you still need more to get your chocolate fix, Asda is selling ORANGE and mint flavoured After Eights.
While Tesco has slashed the price of Heroes, Quality Street, Celebrations and Roses so you can stock up for Christmas.
You can also find the much-missed Galaxy Truffle chocolates in Tesco stores right now.
