KFC’s new ‘secret recipe’ fries are on sale in the US and they taste of chicken

KFC has rolled out its new "secret recipe" fries in the US and foodies say they're flavoured like the famous fried chicken.

The french fries are not yet available in all the states, but they've been spotted by KFC fans in both California and Indiana.

The Sun has asked KFC for more details about the treats, how much they cost and how they are seasoned, but we haven't yet heard back.

Although, a spokesperson has told that the fries are being tested in "select markets", but it didn't specify which ones.

It's being reported that the "secret recipe" name refers to KFC's secret blend of spices and herbs for its fried chicken.

KFC is famously only following 11 people on Twitter, of which all of them are some variety of spice or herb.

One shared a picture of the fries and wrote: "KFC seasoning their new fries like fried chicken now!!!

"These might replace potato wedges, would you be down for that?"

While user wrote: "Secret Recipe Fries have been spotted by Impulsive Buy reader Angela D. at a KFC location in Greenfield, Indiana.

"From the name, it's safe to assume these fries have been seasoned with the Colonel's secret blend of 11 herbs and spices. Have you seen it in your area?"

Another user simply tweeted: "Fries KFC > fries McDonald's. Don’t fight me."

Officially, fries don't seem to be available on the current KFC menu.

Although you can pick up seasoned potato wedges for $1.99 (£1.61) for an individual pack or $3.79 (£3.06) for a large size, according to Fast Food Menu Prices.

A KFC spokesperson told Today: "KFC is currently testing Secret Recipe Fries in select markets.

We are always testing new menu items to see what resonates with our customers."

Last week, KFC also begun trialling plant-based nuggets and wings in the US.

"KFC fans in Asia also waited for 18 hours ahead of the region's answer to the chicken chain - Jollibee - opened its doors.

While Wendy's is now doing a spicy bacon jalapeño chicken burger.
