ASDA is selling puddings that taste like the golden toffee penny chocolates that come in a box of Quality Street.

The toffee desserts are made with 38 per cent skimmed milk and have the same texture as yogurt.

They're similar to other Nestle puddings, such as Rolo and the Milkbar ones or Cadbury's dessert pots.

Each pack contains four 70g puddings, which contain 170 calories each, and they need to be kept in the fridge.

Unfortunately, they're made with milk and soya so you shouldn't eat the puddings if you know that you're allergic to them.

A pack of four costs £2, making each pud 50p. You can actually buy similar Nestle desserts for less at other supermarkets.

Here's how to cut the cost of your grocery shop

SAVING on your shop can make a big difference to your wallet. Here are some tips from Hannah Maundrell, editor of Money.co.uk, about how you can cut the cost of your shopping bills:

  • Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
  • Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
  • Never shop hungry – you are far more likely to buy  more food if your tummy is rumbling
  • Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
  • Use social media – follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
  • Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
  • Check the small print –  It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
  • Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards

For example, a four pack of Rolo snacks costs £1 from Iceland, making each pot just 25p - half the price of the Quality Street ones.

We couldn't find the Quality Street desserts available to buy anywhere else so you'll need to head to Asda if it's those ones in particular that you're after.

The desserts were spotted by eagle-eyed shoppers on the group.

While scores of customers said that they couldn't wait to get their hands on them, others pointed out that they're not new.

It's true, the puddings have been found on sale before at Iceland but it was only for a limited run.

Nestle previously launched a similar pudding inspired by the mint green triangle choc but we couldn't find it currently on sale anywhere.

The toffee penny puds are available to buy in stores and - you can find your nearest Asda branch .

Last week, we revealed how tubs of Quality Street, Roses and Heroes have shrunk again but prices in shops have stayed the same.

The standard size of a Quality Street tub has dropped from 1,200g in 1998 down to 600g now.

But bigger tubs of the festive staples are available as Costco as it is selling a giant 2kg Quality Street tin for under £12 at the moment.
