Wendy’s is now doing a spicy bacon jalapeño chicken burger

BURGER chain Wendy's has added more fire to its menu with the addition of a spicy bacon jalapeño chicken sandwich.

It features crispy fried chicken breast that’s been breaded in hot peppers and spices and covered in a cheesy sauce.

The sandwich is then topped with pickled jalapeños, Applewood-smoked bacon, cheese and crispy fried onions.

For an extra kick, it’s finished off with a smothering of smoky jalapeño sauce.

Wendy’s seems to be on a roll with its spicy offerings as the chain has only just released and .

The burger is only available in US outlets - and there are over 6,500 across the country.

The individual sandwich starts from $5.69 (£4.71) but it's also available as part of meal with small chips and a small drink from $8.29 (£6.86).

Prices do vary between restaurants so be sure to before ordering.

While the new chicken burger was added to US menus at the end of August, Canada actually got the first taste back in July.

The release comes shortly after McDonald's tested out spicy chicken nuggets in the US and UK - but sadly these fell short of expectations on British shores.

For those watching their weight, the new new bacon jalapeño chicken burger contains 680 calories and 6g of sugar per sandwich.

This is slightly less than the new cheeseburger alternative that contains 750 calories and 7g of sugar.

The average male is recommended to have no more than 2,500 calories a day, while it’s 2,000 for women.

Both men and women shouldn’t consume more than 30g of sugar each day.

In more fast food news, KFC has begun trialling plant-based nuggets and wings as part of its menu.

The move follows the UK trial of KFC's vegan "Imposter" burger earlier this year.

Earlier this month, KFC gave away free chicken and fries to students showing their A-Level results who purchased a Krushems milkshake.
