B&M shopper explains how to find hidden discounts as she buys £140 worth of cushions for £12.50

A BARGAIN hunter has revealed how to find hidden discounts at B&M after she bought £138.81 worth of cushions for £12.50.

Her top trick? She used the discounter's app to find hidden discounts that weren't displayed on the shelves.

The savvy saver shared her haul of Silent Night and Home & Co branded cushions on the Facebook group.

It included a range of faux velour and fluffy cushions in a range of cream, bronze and brown colours.

The prices on display next to the cushions at the store were the original tags - £7.99 for the Home & Co ones and £6.99 for the Silent Night ones.

But when she scanned the bar code on the B&M app on her phone she found that they were coming up as £1 and 50p each.

The retailer launched it's free app at the beginning of 2018 to help shoppers see the latest up-to-date prices.

It's an ideal way to spot secret discounts on products that haven't had their prices updated on the display yet.

You don't have to do anything extra as they will scan through at the lower price at the till.

The app is available to download on iPhones and Androids and you can tailor it to show the latest deals on the departments that you to shop in the most, such as homeware.

How to use the app

SAVVY shoppers are using an app to find better discounts in stores.

Here's how you can join the B&M bargain hunt:

  • Download the B&M app for free on any smartphone with an or .
  • Once you've installed it on your device, click on the option labelled "more" on the bottom, right-hand side of the app home page.
  • You'll then find an option that says "barcode scanner". Click on this and you'll open a camera screen.
  • Use the camera to hover over the barcode of the product you wish to check.
  • If the price comes up as lower, take it to the cash desk and it will automatically scan at the lower price.
  • You don't need to sign up to the B&M app to use the barcode scanner.

 

These cushions aren't displayed on the website any more though, which means the bargain price tag is likely to be part of a clearance sale.

This means you mean your local branch might not have the same available remaining stock and you might end up missing out.

It's best to call up the store before heading out - you can find your nearest branch .
