KFC to sell meatless ‘chicken’ nuggets and wings following vegan burger success – but only in the US
FAST-FOOD chain KFC has begun trialling plant-based nuggets and wings as part of its menu.
Joining forces with vegan company, Beyond Meat, it will sell meatless nuggets and wings - but this will only be available in the US.
KFC will offer its "Beyond Fried Chicken" at one of its branches in Atlanta today only (August 27), and it promises to deliver the same "finger lickin' good" flavour.
It will then come down to customer feedback as to whether more KFC locations sell the plant-based nuggets and wings in the States.
Nuggets will be available in a six or 12-piece box, costing $6.49 and $8.49 for the respective-sized meals.
A four-piece pack of nuggets will cost £1.99 - but no meal is included here.
The wings are boneless and come in six pieces ($6) and 12 pieces ($12).
Don't forget - if you're going abroad, you need to factor in adding tax on top.
We've asked KFC how much the meatless treats cost over in the States and we'll update this story as soon as we get a response.
Sadly for UK fans, KFC says it doesn't have any plans to bring the meatless nuggets and wings to the UK though.
The move follows the UK trial of KFC's vegan "Imposter" burger earlier this year.
We got a first look and bite back in June - before the meatless patty sold out within four days.
The Sun has asked KFC if it plans to roll out the meatless burger permanently across the UK and we'll update this story as soon as we get a response.
KFC isn't the only fast food chain to look at plant-based ingredients though.
Earlier this year, Burger King revealed a plant-based Whopper burger and Subway also launched a vegan patty.
