Greggs is bringing back its pumpkin spice latte and it’s almost £1 cheaper than Starbucks

GREGGS is bringing back its pumpkin spice latte and coffee lovers will be pleased to know that it’s almost £1 cheaper than the Starbucks' alternative.

The autumn staple is confirmed to be returning to the menu this year after going down a treat with customers in 2018.

The coffee is made with sweet pumpkin spice-flavoured syrup and is topped with cream and sprinkles.

It’ll set you back £2.20 for a regular one and £2.50 for a large, which is the same as last year.

If you opt for the regular, this works out as 95p cheaper than Starbucks' version based on last year’s price.

In 2018, a “short” size of the Starbucks classic cost coffee drinkers £3.15, although it's yet to confirm its menu or prices for this autumn.

If you’re watching your waistline then you might want to take note of the calorie count which is 228 for a regular at Greggs and 253 for a large.

Last year, the “short” size of the Starbucks alternative contained 380 calories and 43.3g of sugar, which is more than the 301 calories found in a single McDonald’s cheeseburger.

We don't know the exact date for when Greggs' version will be back on the menu but we will update this article when we know more - we've also asked Greggs how much sugar is in the drink.

Greggs has teased other treats set to appear on the autumn menu, including the return of its spicy chicken and pepperoni bake.

If you like a bit of heat then Greggs says you’re bound to enjoy this savoury treat, which features fajita flavour chicken breast pieces and pepperoni in a creamy sauce, wrapped in a puff pastry and topped with cheese.

The new bake will cost £1.85 when it returns to the menu on September 3.

It’s been a good week for Greggs with the bakery chain revealing plans to open 100 more stores in the UK by the end of the year.

You might also be pleased to know that Greggs will be testing later closing times.

It comes after the bakery and sausage roll giant saw sales rise by 14.7 per cent to £546million in the first six months of the year.
