M&S launches new Percy Pig fruit chews that look like gummy bears
FANS of M&S’ infamous Percy Pig sweets can now get their hands on a brand new flavour that sees Percy standing in full for the first time in 26 years.
Until now, the sweets have only ever shown the faces of Percy and his farmyard friends, as well as his curly tail.
But now Marks’ new “Fruity Chews” see Percy in all his glory and we think they look similar to cute little gummy bears.
Each mini Percy is a different colour based on the flavour of the sweet, which come in apple, red grape, strawberry, blueberry, orange, and lemon.
You can pick up a 150g packet in store today for £1.65 or if you’re feeling peckish you can nab two packs for £3 – saving you 30p.
That’s the same size and price as regular Percy Pigs, although they contain slightly more calories at 129 per 37.5g portion compared to 126.
An adult man shout eat around 2,500 calories a day while it’s 2,000 for a woman.
M&S adds that they’re made with real fruit juice, contain no artificial colours or flavourings, and that they’re suitable for vegetarians.
The posh retailer came under fire earlier this year for changing the recipe of regular Percy Pigs to make them veggie.
M&S launched a Veggie Percy in 2011, which was free from animal product gelatine, but still kept the originals for meat-lovers – until this year.
The sweets, introduced in 1992, are one of M&S’s most popular products, with a Facebook appreciation society boasting 210,000 members.
And they’ve banked M&S a whopping £20million since their launch.
M&S Percy product developer Natalie Tate said: “Our new Percy Chews are a fresh and fruity take on everyone’s favourite pig.
“Using the same delicious, tail-twisting flavours, these new sweets have a delightfully chewy texture – and could even end up becoming a customer favourite!”
